LEXINGTON, Ky. – Horse Sales, L.P. held their 23rd annual Kentucky After Christmas Sale on Jan. 31- Feb. 2, 2008. The successful event was held at the Tattersall’s Sale Facility in Lexington, Ky. and featured 554 entries.

David Landrum and Jerrold Pedigo host the sale each year and were extremely pleased with the number of horses sold and the overwhelming support of the purchasers and consignors. During the three-day sale, 80 percent of the total number of horses presented sold, a number indicative of the strength of the sale. Also impressive numbers for the 2007 sale as compared to the 2006 sale were the Top 5 Pleasure/Broodmare average increasing by 31 percent and Top 5 Performance Show Horse average increasing by close to $1,000.

“We are extremely pleased with the overall numbers from the sale. The median price of the show horse was very encouraging and our pleasure market was up considerably. We were excited to see the size of the crowds and the enthusiasm within the crowd. Anytime you make a change in format you are hopeful that it will be well-received and with the crowds we saw each day we know it was. The industry is on the right track and this sale is continued proof of the positive direction of the industry,” said Landrum.

Pedigo commented, “We think most people were satisfied and found what they were looking for. We want to thank everyone for supporting the sale and we hope to see you again in 2009.”
