World Grand Champion Portrait Hung at Tennessee Department of Agriculture

A portrait of the reigning World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse, Justified Honors, was recently presented to the Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Charlie Hatcher, in Nashville.

Youth Fund Restoration of Historic Portrait

The Tennessee Walking Horse Youth Association (TWHYA) recently paid for the restoration of a portrait of Haynes Peacock and Col. R.L. Haynes, the 1940 and 1941 World Grand Champions. The portrait was restored by Jennifer Sterne of Pegram, TN and is part of the collection of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Museum.

Sonny Scrivner Celebration of Life

Mr. Sonny Scrivner passed away on February 5, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Blue Ribbon Circle in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The event will start at 6PM and everyone is invited to come and remember Sonny.

WHTA to host amateur judging competition and trivia at National Trainers' Show

The Walking Horse Trainers' Association will host an amateur judging competition on Wednesday and Thursday night of the National Trainers’ Show, scheduled for March 16-19, 2022 at Calsonic Arena. Three amateur judges will be selected each night to tie four different classes (two performance and two pleasure).

Tommy Hall to retire at end of year

The Tennessee Walking Horse industry will lose one of its most tireless workers at the end of the 2022 show season. Walking Horse Owners’ Association Executive Director Tommy Hall recently told his board of directors that 2022 will be his last year serving in that capacity.

Jeffery Todd Duke was born in Alabaster, Alabama on October 1, 1963 to the late Patsy Brown Duke and Dr. Warren Cecil Duke Sr. He passed away in Dickson, Tennessee on February 22, 2022 at the age of 58. Jeff was a senior ecologist and a member of the Liberty Hill Church of Christ in Fairview, TN.
